Introduction
A research study is a methodology to discover, analyze, differentiate, and stabilize a current observational problem and our research mentions “The impact of parents and Gender on Choosing a Career” will be issued. The main reason for taking this topic is that it evaluates lots of conflicts between parents and Childs. From the parents’ side, they think children are in a period of self-discovery and have no exact opinion and decision for their future. So, parents believe that adults and experienced persons should guide them. However, children prefer to take decisions independently and sometimes cannot choose their desired profession due to the influence of their parents. Furthermore, another factor known to influence career choice is gender. Today, we can notice that there are sharp differences between male and female workers in certain professions. For these reasons, this topic is considered disputable and is the subject of the research topic. The main objective of our article is to find out how much children depend on their parents in choosing a career and how their gender identity affects them. To clarify these issues, we conducted 1 online survey among 33 high-school students (abiturients) and 4 interviews were taken from parents. According to our online survey, we asked about students’ gender identity and the behavior of their parents. In addition, we also addressed to them some questions such as “are you satisfied with the intervention to your choice of your parents?”. Moreover, to gather parents’ perspectives on this topic we took an interview with 7 parents to analyze what drives parents to involve their children’s career choice. The interview questions were roughly as follows: “What do you want from your child to become in future?” and “Do you intervene to your child’s career choice? Why?”, etc. According to the structure of our paper, we will issue a review of the literature, methods of research, and results, and a discussion of our online surveys and interviews.
Literature Review
Career choice has an important position in our life. Making this choice correctly helps us to lay the foundations of our future. However, there are factors that influence our choices; some of these are parents and gender. Many studies have also been done on how much influence these factors – parents and gender have on career choice. According to a survey by Joblist, approximately 40% of respondents indicated they felt heavily pressured to follow their parents’ career advice, and 48% said their parents had a significant impact on their career choice. (The Impact of Parental Influence: Career Edition). This survey was conducted among 810 currently employed people and 210 parents. So, we can see that approximately half of the currently employed people have not been able to choose their career freely. The parental factor played a role here and influenced their career path. Furthermore, parents’ influence can sometimes happen without their awareness. Obviously, most of us are aware that strict family norms and traditions regarding wealth, reputation, service, and success may discourage anybody from taking chances and attempting new things.
